This means that machined copper, like that in pipe lugs, springs back to its original shape if pressed around a cable. You can make machined copper soft again by annealing it. This is a process where copper is heated to 400\u00b0C and then cooled.\r\n\r\nTo ensure that our tube lugs do not spring back, the tube lugs are annealed twice (hence the name double annealing). This makes them soft and easy to press. It also means that they only stiffen when the lug is pressed onto the cable. Therefore, the crimp can maintain its contact pressure throughout the life of the cable.\r\n\r\nProperly pressed, these lugs do not allow oxygen to enter the copper wires in the cable. They are deliberately designed without inspection holes in order not to let oxygen into the cable.\r\n\r\nBecause they have proper wall thickness and are double annealed, they do not spring back after crimping as poor quality pipe lugs and brass plate lugs always do over time.
