Information about our pipe lugs
Skyllermark tube lugs are made of tinned double annealed copper. Use these to make your own “Skyllermark cables”.
Double annealing
Raw copper is soft but it stiffens when it is processed. This means that machined copper, like that in pipe lugs, springs back to its original shape if pressed around a cable. You can make machined copper soft again by annealing it. This is a process where copper is heated to 400°C and then cooled.

To ensure that our tube lugs do not spring back, the tube lugs are annealed twice (hence the name double annealing). This makes them soft and easy to press. It also means that they only stiffen when the lug is pressed onto the cable. Therefore, the crimp can maintain its contact pressure throughout the life of the cable.

Properly pressed, these lugs do not allow oxygen to enter the copper wires in the cable. They are deliberately designed without inspection holes in order not to let oxygen into the cable.

Because they have proper wall thickness and are double annealed, they do not spring back after crimping as poor quality pipe lugs and brass plate lugs always do over time. After hexagonal crimping of our pipe lugs, perfect holding power, tightness and contact with the copper wire is achieved.
