Best practice for reliable cable connections

As long advocated by Skyllermarks, all non-soldered tubular cable lugs must be crimped using the correct tool for the specific application – the right cable, the right terminal, and the right crimping tool.

This ensures the connection meets the required specifications for safe and durable performance between cable, terminal, and connection point.

Connections between the cable and terminal must withstand a defined minimum tensile force without separating. This required pull strength increases with cable size.

Using improper tools such as pliers or adjustable wrenches should never be done, as they cannot achieve the required compression or tensile strength.

If the crimp is too loose, the connection may overheat due to poor conductivity – which can, in the worst case, lead to fire hazards.
