Voltage-Sensitive Relay 140A / 12V

Do you want to be sure your engine will always start – even after long periods of inactivity?

With a high-quality voltage-sensitive relay (VSR), the starter battery is automatically protected from discharge by disconnecting it from the service battery bank when the engine is turned off. This ensures that you always have enough power to start your vehicle or boat engine.

Thanks to its bidirectional charging capability, both the starter and service batteries are charged when using shore power chargers or solar panels, providing a reliable and efficient energy management system.

The relay is also equipped with a jumper (override) cable that allows you to temporarily connect the service batteries to the starter circuit — a smart emergency function that can help you start the engine if the starter battery is depleted.

Key benefits:

  • Automatic disconnection when the engine stops – protects the starter battery
  • Bidirectional charging from solar panels and external chargers
  • Easy and safe installation
  • Built-in manual override for emergency starts
  • Sealed and protected design for long service life

Designed for lead-acid battery systems – not intended for use with lithium batteries

Safe current separation between starter and service batteries

Do you want to be sure your engine will always start – even after long periods of inactivity?

A high-quality battery isolator relay automatically separates the starter battery from the service (auxiliary) batteries when the engine is turned off. This protects the starter battery from discharging and ensures you always have enough power to start your vehicle or boat engine.

Wired and Inspired

Installation Instructions

  1. Connect the positive cable from the starter battery to the terminal marked “START BATT”.
  2. Connect the positive cable from the service battery to the terminal marked “SECOND BATT”.
  3. Connect the black wire to negative (–). Ensure the electrical system has a common ground; if not, connect the negative cable directly to the starter battery’s negative terminal.
  4. (Yellow wire: For manual override (e.g., emergency start if the starter battery is flat), connect the wire to negative (–) through a switch to temporarily link the service battery for starting.)

The polarity of the positive cables does not matter — the relay functions in both directions.

Charging with Battery Charger and Solar Panels

  • Battery charger: Connect to the service battery. When charging voltage reaches ≥13.3 V, the relay engages, and the starter battery begins charging as well.
  • Solar panels: Connect to the service battery. When charging voltage reaches ≥13.3 V, the relay activates, charging both battery banks.

This setup prioritizes the service battery bank, which typically has the highest energy demand, while keeping the starter battery sufficiently charged and ready for use.
