What connections are there on the alternator?
Is there a standard?
Unfortunately, there is no standard for alternator designations. Therefore, we have compiled the most common ones below.
B+ goes to positive on the batteries (via a main fuse).
B- goes to the negative on the batteries, the starter motor, and any earth points.
D+ receives a magnetising current when the alternator starts.
Some alternators also have W, which is the tachometer socket, and DF, which is in direct contact with the magnetizing winding of the rotor.
